Employee Advantage Program
The Employee Advantage Program is designed specifically for the small businesses that are members of the Putnam County Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
As small business owners ourselves, we know how difficult it is to budget for and provide employee benefits. And we know how important it is to attract and retain quality employees. By offering this Program through Chamber membership, the per-business and per-employee cost can be reduced, making the benefit worthwhile and cost-effective.
What the Program Includes
As part of the program, employees can attend large group sessions on topics that are focused on personal and professional needs. Every employee also receives two hours of 1:1 coaching, on a topic of their choosing, during the plan year.
As part of the program, all employees are eligible to attend regular sessions (up to 10 per year). Thrive coaches will meet with participating employers in advance of the contract year to discuss the needs and issues they feel are important for their employees. We strongly encourage and welcome employee input in these topics.
Thrive coaches will lead sessions on a topic that can be of benefit, such as the following:
For Both Business Owners and Employees
- Goal Setting
- Communicating as Part of a Team
- Getting Organized
- Setting Work and Life Boundaries

Every employee receives two hours of coaching during the plan year, on a topic of their choosing. Coaching is for their benefit and cannot be transferred to a dependent. Coaching conversations remain confidential between the employee and the Thrive coach. While we will report, if requested, who received coaching, we do not report any information about coaching conversations with the employer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the Program?
The Employee Advantage Program includes group sessions on a variety of topics designed in collaboration with participating businesses. It also includes two hours of one-on-one coaching sessions for all enrolled employees of participating businesses.
What businesses are eligible to participate?
Chamber members are eligible to participate. In this initial year (2021), participation is by invitation. If you are interested, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
I'm not a Chamber business, but these sessions look really great. How can I access some of them?
The Employee Advantage Program is just one of many Chamber benefits. If you are not a member of the Chamber, we contract directly with you to design and offer the sessions you think will be most helpful for your employees and your business.
Will the sessions be recorded for those who can’t attend?
No. Information about many of these topics can be found online. The value we add in these sessions is in the participatory learning of those attending. Participants will get more from attending - and engaging - in the content of the session. Moreover, while participants can attend any session individually, we’ve designed them in a way that they will learn and grow more from attending all of the sessions.
How do businesses enroll in the Program?
Upon request, Thrive will send an enrollment form to be completed by a designated representative of the business. That form will ask you to provide a list of employees you wish to enroll in the Program. Thrive will then invoice the business for the individual coaching cost based on the number of enrolled employees. Thrive will also then contact enrolled employees to complete an individual form indicating their areas of interest in one-on-one coaching.
What is the enrollment period?
Enrollment in the Employee Advantage program ends March 1, 2021. Coaching fees are due at the time of enrollment.
Can employees be added after the start of the plan year?
Yes. A participating business can add employees after the start of the plan year. Please contact Thrive to add new employees.
If an employee leaves our business, what happens to their one-on-one coaching benefit?
If an employee has not used any of the two hours of one-on-one coaching at the time she or he leaves their position with you, the remaining hours may be transferred to a new employee during the plan year at no additional cost.
If an employee has used some but not all of the two hours of one-on-one coaching at the time she or he leaves their position with you, the remaining time is forfeited.
Do I have to offer this to all of my employees?
No, but consider how not doing so might affect those not participating. We believe that all employees can benefit from the opportunity to individually and collectively consider what it means to be a high performing organization.
How do I talk to my employees about this?
The EA program is designed to help small businesses and their employees grow and thrive. Thoughts you can share with your staff include the following:
- This is an investment in each of you and the company as a whole. It's a great opportunity to pause regularly and consider what we do well and what we can improve in the months to follow.
- Wellness is essential to our company. I'm not talking just physical wellness, I mean the ability to understand your strengths and values and what motivates you to be at your best, whether here at the company or out in the world. Coaching will help you develop a healthy balance between your work and your life outside of our company.
- Employees are the backbone of company success. We are investing in the long term sustainability of our company by investing in you.
What will Thrive share with the employer about one-on-one coaching?
Upon request, Thrive will provide the designated contact at the employer with individual employees who have received one-on-one coaching. We do not share content of our coaching sessions with employers.
Who is responsible for making sure the one-on-one coaching sessions are used?
It is the responsibility of individual employees to ensure they take advantage of their coaching benefit. Thrive will not send reminders to employees about the benefit. Individual employees are also responsible for scheduling and attending coaching sessions per our cancellation and fee policy.
How much does the program cost?
In this initial year, the program is offered through the Chamber and the only cost to the employer is $100 per employee for two hours of one-on-one coaching sessions.
When is payment due?
Payment is due on or before March 1, 2021.
